INFORMATION POINTS

In co-operation with the Azienda Servizi Mobilità SpA - the company which manages the municipal acar parks - an information point will be instituted inside the City Garage in Piazzale Roma, distributing information about initiatives of the artistic, cultural and social interest tha Venice offers. The areas are now undergoing restoration and the service is scheduled to begin towards the beginning of Fall 2000 and the design also of a telematic "Information Point" is underway offering various information: the circuit of the city museums, the means of transportation, the opening hours, the tourist itineraries, and whatever else might be useful.

EDUCATION

Taking advantage of the positive experiences in 1999 during the financing campaign for the didactic activities of the Venetian Civic Museums, the Venice International Foundation is establishing contacts with companies specialised in products for children and for adolescents. These will serve to raise funds whose proceeds will go towards the realisation of new and wider ranging didactic activities.
A plan including a study programme with a glass factory in Murano for young glass designers or architects.

COLLECTIONS OF THE CIVIC MUSEUMS

In the spirit of increasing their value and according to the needs expressed by the Direction of the Civic Museums, the Venice International Foundation will contribute to the activity of cataloguing and preservation of the vast Venetian cultural patrimony contained in the collections, often wrongly defined as the lesser collections.

EXHIBITS AND PUBLICATIONS

In order to promote the activities and widen the scope of the Venice International Foundation, we are planning the realisation of a series of shows, primarly having Venetian themes, which will be held in prestigious national and international expository centres, all comprehensive of the relative catalogues. One of the exhibits will involve a photographic campaign focussing on Venice, in which three Italian photographers - Gabriele Basilico, Gianni Berengo Gardin, Mario Cresci - will capture the Arsenal, the gondola makers and Venetian women. In the following years, the contributing photographers will be of various nationalities.
The Venice International Foundation is also evaluating the possibility of collaborating in the realisation of an exhibit, scheduled for the end of 2001 at the Doge's Palace in Venice, on the royal gondola. The exhibit will have various themes and will be introduced at the Venetian Royal Palace. It will describe the history, the rulers and a section dedicated to the royal gondola as well as the gondola in general, with an exhibit of the furnishings such as lanterns, "forcole" (rowlocks), "felze" (cabins), gondolier uniforms, classic symbolic and documentary material including historic videos of royal visits to Venice.
